Safety Tips/Stats

Keep the Child Recovery CD with you at all times. In the case of a missing child, give your Child Recovery CD to responding law enforcement for immediate entry into the National Crime Information Center system.

The Medical Waiver cards are for sharing. Give one to your babysitter, to grandparents, to the neighbor – anyone who might care for your child. With the Medical Waiver card, it is possible for your child to receive swift and proper medical treatment for non-life threatening accidents or illness - even when you’re not there.

Take advantage of “teaching moments.” If your child does something dangerous or become involved in a dangerous situation, take the time to talk about why it is dangerous and explore ways safely deal with that situation.

Talk to your kids often about safety. Knowledge is power, so give your children age-appropriate information about safety-related issues. Remember to “update” their knowledge base when they get older. For example, you would tell a two-year old never to cross the street alone, but a six-year old should know the safe way to cross.
